My name is Amber Aho and I am a Junior at Iowa State University. I am currently majoring in marketing with a minor in management. I have been drawn to business since I was little; I’ve always wanted to have a career where I would be able to work with others and have endless opportunities, and I believe business is the perfect field for that. Between being involved in sports and coming from a very vocal family, I’ve became a strong communicator. From being a captain and leader on my teams, I have had to not only relay messages to my teammates but also have had to keep my teams productive and goal oriented to reach our end of the season goals. Where I have learned some of my best real-world communication skills is through traveling. I’ve been to over 40 states in the United States and visited 11 countries around the world. I’ve learned how communication differs from place to place, and have encountered many communication barriers that I have had to work through. I look at every interaction I have with people around the world as a new learning experience. I’ve learned some of the best ways to strengthen my communication isn’t sitting in a classroom, but by putting myself into the world.
