Introductory Reflection

Welcome to my Introductory Reflection! In my Introductory Reflection you will find an essay with some revisions that I have made and all of the reflections from the course of the semester. In the written reflections is my reflections on Assignment 3, 4, and 5. You will also find examples of different elements of WOVE.

Throughout the course of the semester, the way that I compose a paper has changed since I began this class. Before this class, I would wait until the last day to write the essay. Now I write the essay before it is due so that I can have a chance to look over it and make some small changes if I need to. When I start to write the essay I just start writing and see where the flow takes me and go back and edit it to make it flow better or add things if I need. When I revise my compositions I look for grammar errors and some punctuation. I also use Grammarly to check for plagiarism and other things that I can’t check for. It really helps me to use the peer review and conference with the professor to help change the things that I don’t notice and fix things that I had wrong. I also use it to get help when I need help or get stuck.

I have to work on many things to make my writing better. Something I need to work on putting in a transition between paragraphs and also having a topic sentence when I start a new paragraph. For the first presentation I need to work on making it closer to the length it should be. For the second one, I need to work on not reading off of the slide so much. For the second PowerPoint, I needed to add in more pictures. I had already known that I was not very good at giving presentations, but I learned that I need include topic sentences in my essays. I think the most challenging thing for me was trying to write the research paper because it took the most work to write and do all of the research that I needed. To meet this challenge I allowed myself plenty of time to research my topic and to figure out how to organize it and write it.

Over the course of the semester my writing has improved by a lot. I also look at visuals and written texts differently than I did at the beginning of the year. I plan to use these skills to help me do well in my job later on in life.
