Introductory Reflection

Combined into one efficient page are all of the papers I have worked on this year. Leading is all of my previous work if you select that certain menu or you may click on my portfolio work and see all of that. Writing is an important function in society. In the early days of high school I firmly believed I was not a very strong writer and my scores were never the best. After coming to college I feel like my writing has improved.

English 150 is where most of my learning and writing excelled. I learned how to put together a paper by asking myself simple questions my teacher taught like, “who is the audience you are directing it to” and “the drawing on your thesis at the end of paper helps complete the your overall thought.” I went from a “C” student to a “B” student in one semester. Those two simple teachings helped me evolve my papers into a somewhat worthy paper. This semester has also been tremendously helpful. In English 250 we learn to become scholar worthy writers. The biggest thing I took out of this class was making reliable references to other work to help prove my point. A good example would be my Research Supported Argument which you can find here https://eportfolios.isucomm.iastate.edu/jyblade/research-supported-analysis/.

My confidence in writing has developed after these two classes. I no longer look at myself a “C” or “B” student but as an “A” worthy student from taking these two English courses. Before college I had the basics down. Now I have sharpened the stick even more and am very in tune with my abilities as a writer.
