English 250 is all about the simple acronym “WOVE” which stands for “Written”, “Oral”, “Visual”, and “Electronic”. This semester’s activities and assignments were all based around this concept. Our fundamental goal was to spend a couple weeks on each topic, write an essay involving each skill, and final bring it all together into a portfolio at the end of the year which you see before you. Going even deeper, we used what we learned from “Everything’s an Argument” and “The Everyday Writer” to become more prolific writers capable of seeing beyond what first meets the eye.

Each aspect of WOVE can be examined by clicking on the menu bar at the top of the page. The “About Me” section gives a little background information about myself without getting too sappy. In the “Written” section you can find my textual rhetorical analysis which talks about a New York Times column by David Brook’s and his views on young adults entering the real world. My presentation on the visual analysis of the poster from the movie “Halloween” can be found in the “Oral” tab. The paper written on the same topic is in the “Visual” selection. Next, we have the “Electronic” section which has a reflection on the process of making this electronic portfolio. Finally, the reflection on this class as a whole, where I give my wholehearted beliefs on how English 250 has affected me.
