Dear Ms. Emily Horner,

The ISUcomm ePortfolio is a compilation of some of the assignments I have worked on here at Iowa State during this past semester, as well as my reflections on those assignments. This ePortfolio highlights some of my best work from the semester, and in it, you will be able to see how I have grown as a communicator in the WOVE modes and become a more efficient and thoughtful writer. To find each item, you can access the menu and select which work of mine, or my reflection on it, you are interested in seeing.

Throughout the semester, my communication skills have improved a lot. I attribute this to the fact that I have started to consider who my audience is, which is something I didn’t consider as much before. I have also made greater use of peer review, and it is something I take into consideration a lot when making revisions to my work. Peer review, along with the notes you have given me, has served me well in improving my skills as a communicator. They have both allowed me to see my faults, come to terms with them and then work to improve on them. I think I have grown as a communicator in the WOVE modes, and have further developed my skills in these. I think I have improved on my Oral skills as a peer reviewer and also have on my Visual skills, by making PowerPoints.

Despite the progress I have made, I do think I still have a lot to work on. I think I can improve on my initial drafting process, as it is often messy. I could benefit from making outlines and trying to know the goal of my paper before I write it, as I usually pick a topic and start writing without knowing where I am going with it. However, do acknowledge that I have made a lot of progress overall. I appreciate the help, advice and feedback I was given throughout the course, as it has truly helped me improve on my communication skills.

Gratefully,

Nathalia Kimmell
