About Me

Hi, I am Praveen Prakash and I was born in India, lived past 8 years of my life in Saudi Arabia, and now I am at Iowa State University in the USA. One of my main interests has been water sports. From swimming to scuba diving, I have done all the water activities. One of the main factors that lead me to pursue a Mechanical Engineering Degree is water. I have been swimming for the past 10 years and I hope to carry on swimming here at Iowa State. I am also a certified kite surfer and a scuba diver. I was always fascinated by the radical behaviour of water chemically and physically and had the urge to build machines that can purify it more efficiently. Drinking water is scarce in the world and this could help supply millions of people with drinking water. Moreover, it could also be a solution to pollution.  I also believe that everyone needs to try something new and out of their comfort zone, as every experience teaches you something new.  Even though course English 250 was a requirement for graduating, I would have taken it just to challenge my self as I see my self as a shy person and presenting my work to others is what I struggle with. This is what helps me improve myself and be a better communicator, as communication is a large part of whatever we do. “If you don’t challenge yourself, you will never realize what you can become.” I am who I am today due to experiences in the past.
