Dear Alexandra Foote,
Here is my ISU ePortfolio, it contains all the assignments from visual to written text that we have done in class this past year. In the following menus that you see on the upper right section of the screen you will find different menus that are labeled, Written, Oral, Visual, and Electronic, within each of those tabs you can find my written essay, my power points and peer reviews done throughout the semester. Also you can find the reflections for this ePortfolio and for the essays under the reflection tab. There you will see the why to my thought process on choosing certain topics to talk about in the class when typing essays and the reason behind the revision of a few essays.
Throughout this course I would like to say that my revision skills have improved and the way I think when it comes to writing my own essay have improved. I don’t just go into an essay and start writing it, i actually look at the overall picture and I plan it out. You have been plenty help with adjusting my writing, even though it didn’t seem like I took your advice I did. Learning to accommodate my writing for different audiences helped my writing a lot, how I did this was by understanding the topic of the essays I would write about and also looking at who it would appeal to the most, which in hand helped me determine the audience and write for them and appeal to their reading pleasure.
When it comes to the WOVE process, my strength is in oral, more so presenting to a large group and or communicating with groups, I have become more tech sound when it comes to electronics and putting slides together and creating this website as I have done it in the past. The most challenging thing for me that has happened through this course was just gathering my thoughts that I had in my head and writing it out onto paper. I always knew what I wanted to talk about but I felt like I couldn’t bring it all together and explain it thoroughly when writing.
Creating essays such as my “Whats Underneath” essay helped me engage in using my sources and research to incorporate both in my essay. Having us cite our sources throughout our essays helped me learn and have a better understanding of citing. To understand and better my skills at a certain task, it helped to look over my essays after they were graded. All the processes you taught the class and making sure you just simply look over your essay before turning it in helps a lot and I will carry that with me onto English 250.<
