Welcome to my ePortfolio for English 250. I have included original works that I have completed over this semester as well as revised versions. You can find each assignment in their respective menus at the top of every page.
Throughout this entire semester I have been growing as a writer. This English class has played a tremendous part in that growth. I have grown not only as a writer but have developed better habits to go about drafting a paper. I can better communicate with a variety of audiences and am able to generate ideas and put those ideas into words. I have improved at revising and editing my work to reach my full potential as a writer. From the discussions to the readings and the in-class activities have all contributed to making me a better writer.
I have never considered myself a good writer. I have always struggled to generate ideas and form an entire paper. The in-class writing assignments changed the way I approach the start of a paper. Before, I would sit and think about the right way to start of my paper. Now, I start writing ideas and sentences down until I find a suitable introduction or opening sentence. Another skill I developed this semester is using my audience to better compose my paper. During class our main audience was our instructor and our peers. During each assignment we had the opportunity to have our paper reviewed by other students in the class. I was able to use this activity to my advantage by listening and taking notes on what each student said about my paper and used their ideas to increase the overall effectiveness of my ideas.
Overall, I believe I have improved immensely as a writer this semester. Before taking this class, I had little confidence in my writing. Now, I feel I can tackle any topic thrown my way and write a meaningful paper that is effective at portraying my ideas to all who read my work.
