Hi, my name is Dan Franzen.  I was born in Manchester, IA in 1996.  I grew up on a beef farm in rural northeast Iowa, with my parents and three older brothers.  Much of who I am, including my values and interests, has come from my family and life on the farm.  It is through growing up on the farm that my passion for the outdoors was developed.  Since childhood, I have spent countless hours working and playing outside.  As I matured, my appreciation for the outdoors has grown into a much larger part of who I am.  After graduating high school at Starmont High School, I enrolled at Iowa State University  to continue my education in Animal Ecology.  At Iowa State, I have had multiple undergraduate research experiences, and am an active member in Delta Waterfowl ISU chapter.  I have also done timber stand improvement projects, invasive species control, and prairie management projects for multiple farmers.  After achieving my Bachelor’s Degree, I wish to work to improve the habitat of the land we depend on and implement sustainable land management techniques.
