A4 – Reflection

1.) Choosing an artifact was relatively easy. Passing by the Fifth Muse every time I went to class had always caught my eye. The ability to use this assignment to further inspect and discover the meaning behind the fifth muse not only furthered my appreciation for art on campus but, hopefully, inspired others to appreciate it go through my presentation.

2.) Finding myself interpreting and appreciating art on campus is something that I learned from this assignment. Having that inclination to want to learn more about art and find the meaning of what it means, why it was put in this location, what the story behind it is, and more is how I know this assignment has peaked my interest for art on campus. I was very shocked to find out that ISU has one of the biggest art programs in the country. I don’t know what this campus would be without the art that has been provided to us today.

3.) Having to be very descriptive and observational was two major things needed for this assignment. “There are two massive staircases wrapping around each side that pulls your attention to the piece of artwork and gives the space a sense of elegance, like walking into a manor with a giant chandelier above.” Is one of the many ways I had to be smart with my descriptions to make sure the reader was able to capture the feeling and presence of the sculpture through the pictures and text on a page. I could defiantly work on my citing throughout the paper. I have the concept down but, I have to make sure I am giving credit to where credit is due.
