Due to the many dangers that humans have posed on the tigers in Asia, the wild tiger is terrifyingly close to extinction.

Source 1:

WWF is an organization that studies and helps protects wildlife. This page is devoted specifically to tigers and the habitats in which they live. This page is full of research and quantitative data. WWF is one of the leading organizations in wildlife conservation and has years of experience and thousands of trained professionals to ensure that their data is correct. I plan on using this source for many of the statistical facts that are important to know regarding my topic.

Source 2:

National Geographic ran this article regarding the confusion behind how many wild tigers are actually left in the world. The true number is difficult to find out due to constant overestimation by some countries. Although recent methods have allowed for more accurate reports, the real number is still unknown. National geographic is a nationally recognized magazine with a skilled focus in wildlife. I plan to use this article in explaining why wild tigers may go extinct sooner than we thought.

This article was published by the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies regarding the drastically low number of wild tigers remaining. It addresses many of the problems that are causing the population to drop. It also mentions a few of the strategies that conservationists are using to try and protect the remaining wild tigers. Since the article is from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies it is credible. I plan on using this source to explain some of the efforts being made to prevent the extinction of the wild tiger,

This article was posted to Paul Guernsey’s All About Wildlife website regarding how soon we could see the extinction of the wild tiger. It acknowledges the many factors that threaten the wild tiger, as well as some of the history of poaching tigers. Estimates of the tiger population and how that could be skewed are mentioned as well. This guy has extensive research and has credible sources. I plan to use this to explain to the audience how soon we could see the extinction of the wild tiger.

This page is a collection of numbers from worldatlas about the spread of the remaining tiger population. There are certain regions that have more tigers than others which can be seen in this. India by far has the greatest number of wild tigers remaining. Worldatlas is a well known credible source with extensive research. I plan on using this article to talk about the regions with the greatest number of wild tigers.
